Black Star High School On Sunday, October 3rd and Monday October 4th the Black Star Alumni and guests started arriving at the park for the three day class reunion event. Most Alumni had reserved rooms at the Park Lodge, or had reserved one of the cabins at the park. The Ray Harm Room at the lodge was reserved for the alumni, and guests to gather in, and visit with each other during the day and night. On Monday, October 4th, in the afternoon the class made a visit to the Wasioto Baptist Church at Pineville where one of their former school mates, Robie Walters, is the Minister. Robbie was having services upstairs when the class arrived, and the class gathered in the basement of the Church. After the church services, Robie joined the 1960 Class for a luncheon, and old times were talked about. Robie was glad to see, and visit with all of his former class mates. On Tuesday, October 5th, the class went to the Black Star Holiness Church for a dinner. The dinner was held in the recreation room of the church. The recreation room was full, there were Black Star students from other Black Star classes present, and many teachers present that had taught at Black Star. While visiting at Black Star some of the group visited the Alva Memorial Gardens, and the old Black Star School grounds. On Wednesday afternoon October 6th, the Black Star Class of 1960 50th Banquet Dinner was held in the Ray Harm Room. Wendell Johnson opened the program by welcoming everyone. The special memorial speaker was Kenneth Green, the Invocation was given by Melvin Burnett, the special program directors were Nancy Powell, and June Burnette. The guest speaker at the dinner was former Black Star Teacher Huey Cornelius. Also present was former Black Star Teacher Mrs. Sylvia Burnette who was having a Birthday. The Black Star Class presented her with a Birthday Cake. The next 1960 Black Star Class Reunion will be

Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. You can start now reserving one of the 16 rooms
that Wendell has secured for this reunion.
